Dimraeth Beginner Guide — How to Start
Dimraeth is Mudtek’s handcrafted pixel-art action RPG for 1–8 players, out now in Early Access. A ritual gone wrong grants you immortality while corruption spreads across Mirkea — the wizard Faustas recruits you to fight the darkness of Sylbos. This guide covers everything you need for your first run.
The Story So Far
The campaign opens with a war between humans and minotaurs. Minotaur prince Antark and human inventor Toleus travel together to Dimraeth to use the mountain’s magic to end the conflict — but the fight with the ogre mage Sylbos goes wrong, and his immortality spell spills into the world. You awaken as one of the affected: immortal, while corruption spreads across the lands of Mirkea. The wizard Faustas recruits you to oppose Sylbos. The campaign supports solo play from start to finish — co-op is optional.
Your First Big Choice: Race × Class
You build a hero from a race and a class pairing. The current Early Access build has 3 races and 3 classes — 9 archetypes, each with its own skill tree. The full 8 races × 6 classes (48 archetypes) is the development target, not the launch state. See the Classes and Races pages for the full breakdown before you commit, and check character creation for the creator options.
Souls-Lite Combat Basics
- Stamina management: combat is built on stamina — every strike, dodge, block and parry costs some.
- Read the telegraphs: enemy attacks are telegraphed; positioning and timing beat button mashing.
- Spell loadout: equip up to 5 spells at once, mixing elements for your build.
- Strike / dodge / block / parry: the four core verbs — learn the parry window early, it opens your spell windows.
Progression & Persistence
Your hero level, gear, inventory, spells and personal progression carry between worlds in co-op (split persistence), while story progress, allies and buildings stay in the host’s world. The launch build caps character level at 25 and covers Act 1 of 3. Loot, gathering and quests feed your home base — crafting, potions, cooking, farms and quarries all run from there.
Beginner Tips
- Solo is fully viable — the game can be played alone from start to finish.
- Try a few archetypes early; skill trees are per-archetype, not per-class, so a race swap changes the character.
- Build your base early: farms, quarries and crafting stations pay off across the whole campaign.
- Spend stamina before spells in boss fights — spell windows open after dodges and parries.
- Upgrade gear rarity tier before chasing individual slots; tier matters more than the slot.
- Expect balance changes throughout Early Access; the meta will move with every update.
